Complex clinical care

High Intensity Supports

Complex care delivered by nurses trained, assessed and supervised against the NDIS High Intensity Support Skills Descriptors — so the most demanding parts of your care are in genuinely capable hands.

Some supports carry real clinical risk. The NDIS classifies these as High Intensity Daily Personal Activities, and they can only be delivered by workers who have been specifically trained, assessed as competent, and supervised by an appropriate clinician.

As a registered provider led by a Registered Nurse, Kalgi Care meets those requirements directly. We will not take on a high intensity support until we have a worker with verified competency for your specific need — and we will tell you honestly if that takes time to arrange.

High intensity supports we deliver

Enteral (PEG) feeding support

Feed administration, pump management, tube site care, flushing, and recognising and responding to complications.

Complex bowel care

Bowel care programs including suppositories, enemas and digital stimulation, delivered with dignity and clear consent.

Urinary catheter management

Indwelling, suprapubic and intermittent catheterisation, including changes, troubleshooting and infection monitoring.

Tracheostomy support

Suctioning, stoma and tube care, humidification, and emergency response planning for tube displacement or blockage.

Ventilator support

Support for participants using non-invasive or invasive ventilation, including circuit checks, alarm response and escalation pathways.

Subcutaneous injections

Insulin, anticoagulants and other prescribed subcutaneous medications, with proper technique, site rotation and documentation.

Diabetes management

Blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, hypo and hyper management, and sick-day planning.

Severe dysphagia support

Mealtime assistance delivered to a speech pathologist's plan, with aspiration risk management and staff trained to the plan.

Epilepsy and seizure support

Seizure management plans, administration of emergency medication where prescribed, and accurate seizure documentation.

How we keep high intensity care safe

  • Every worker is assessed against the relevant NDIS High Intensity Skills Descriptor before they support you
  • A Registered Nurse writes and reviews the care plan, and supervises delivery
  • Plans are built with your treating team — GP, specialist, speech pathologist or continence nurse
  • Emergency and escalation protocols are documented and rehearsed, not improvised
  • Competency is re-checked regularly, and whenever your needs change

How this is funded

High intensity supports are generally funded from Core Supports — Assistance with Daily Life at high intensity rates, and often alongside Improved Daily Living for the nursing assessment and plan. These supports require a registered provider. Kalgi Care is registered under NDIS provider number 4-LYEVJIZ.
